REPORT on SWAD 2006

The Delegates Meeting of IFSW decided 2004 in Adelaide to have a Global Social Work Day in future. For that reason the Executive Committee of IFSW Europe proposes that the next European SWAD should be linked with the first global social work day in March/April 2007.

November 2006 is very close to March 2007 and the Executive Committee of IFSW Europe proposes to have NO Social Work Action Day 2006.

Between December 2005 and February 2006 the IFSW Europe Executive consulted member organisation on the following question:

1. Do you agree to have NO SWAD Europe November 2006?

2. If not: Which theme do you propose and is your organisation ready to take the responsibility for the work involved in SWAD 2006?

The answers received by IFSW Europe Secretariat sustain the Executive proposal to have NO SWAD. The answer has been received form the following countries:

· Austria

· Sweden

· Switzerland

· France

· Croatia

· Spain

· Norway

· Ireland

· Denmark

· Russia

The final decision will be made by the Delegates Meeting in Sofia.

RECOMMENDATION

The Delegates Meeting is recommended by the Executive to have NO SWAD in 2006.
