Policy Statements

In presenting its Series of International Policy Papers, the International Federation Social Workers is pursuing a dual purpose. First, it addresses some basic concepts from a social work perspective, considering that each profession possesses different insights, based on in-depth experience, which enables it to throw light on some of the broadest issues confronting contemporary society.

The second purpose is to provide social workers globally with practical as well as philosophical guidelines on a number of particular issues. Without being binding on practicioners, the views contained in the 14 Policy Papers represent a consensus of professionals from different geographical and professional backgrounds who arrived at their conlusions, often after years of work and debate, and finally endorsed by the IFSW General Meeting.

All 14 documents are, or will very soon be for those recently revised, available in English, French and Spanish from the IFSW Secretariat. The following topics are covered:

International Policy Statement on Displaced Persons
International Policy Statement on Globalisation and the Environment
International Policy on Conditions in Rural Communities

International Policy on Human Rights
International Policy on Indigenous Peoples
International Policy on Migration
