2003 - Grenada 17
The name Grenada 17 was given the group of detainees to which Phyllis Coard a social worker and member of the government belonged, detained in connection to the invasion by the USA of Grenada following the murder of Prime Minister Maurice Bishop and others.
The International Federation of Social Workers, (IFSW) and the International Association of Schools of Social Work, (IASSW) – in support of Amnesty International, requested that the Prime Minister of Grenada, would establish an independent judicial review of the convictions of the Grenada 17 in the light of the irregularities documented in the Amnesty International report.
