Adopted by the General Meeting, Hong Kong, 21-23 July 1996
1. In order to make use of the networks and expertise of experienced IFSW leaders, the IFSW General Meeting, with consultation from the Executive Committee, President and Secretary General, can appoint IFSW Ambassadors. Such appointments should only take place in particular cases and with leaders with substantial experience within the Federation.
2. An IFSW Ambassador is a person with an indepth understanding of and experience with IFSW. The Ambassador should be highly capable, knowledgeable and skilled in representing and working on behalf of IFSW, and should, through credibility and diplomatic abilities, bring positive recognition to IFSW at all times.
3. Appointments are made by the General Meeting until the next General Meeting, and can be renewed with the consent of the General Meeting and the individual being considered. The Ambassador serves within the policies and programs set by the General Meeting, and is accountable to it.
4. The Ambassador shall be kept informed of IFSW policies and programs by having documents and publications made available from the Secretariat.
5. In cooperation with IFSW Officers, and/or the Secretary General, the Ambassador can be asked to accept special assignments, projects or other matters of importance for the Federation, both within hers or his own country or region and on a global basis.
6. The Ambassador can also initiate special tasks within hers or his own country or abroad in cooperation with IFSW Officers and/or the Secretary General.
7. The Ambassador shall maintain awareness of opportunities to make the IFSW presence known when appropriate.
