Consultation on girls and gender equality - Voices of Youth

Voices of Youth (VOY), UNICEF's website for children and young people, is hosting an online discussion on Girls and Gender Equality. The discussion is part of a series of United Nations online discussions dedicated to the fifteen-year review of the implementation of the Beijing Platform for Action (1995) and the outcomes of the twenty-third special session of the General Assembly (2000), and will be a contribution to the 54th session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) on 1-12 March 2010.

Voices of Youth would like to extend an open invitation to children and young people who would like to discuss the questions posted on the forum. Voices of Youth was originally founded in 1995, as a way to relay messages from children in 81 countries to world leaders at the World Summit for Social Development. The mission of Voices of Youth is offering children and adolescents a platform to discuss issues "related to human rights and social change, as well as develop their awareness, leadership, community building, and critical thinking skills through active and substantive participation with their peers and with decision makers globally."
