Dear IFSW members thank you for responding to our communication on these two applications for IFSW membership. Please find below the application forms and supporting documents from each of the applicants.
The IFSW Secretary-General, Rory Truell, and the relevant Regional Presidents have reviewed the application material and have concluded that the applications meet the requirements for IFSW membership. We therefore recommend to vote in favour of both applications.

Association of Social Workers of El Salvador
(Summary in English) The code of ethics includes information social work graduate requirements, the general principles of social work, professional practice, professional confidentiality, the relationship between the social worker and clients, the relationship between the social worker and the entity where they work, the social worker relationships with other entities and organisations, the responsibility of the social worker towards the society within their professional practice, the social worker’s obligations towards other social workers, and the obligations / responsibilities of the social worker in relation to the professional association.
Constitution Association of Social Workers of El Salvador (Spanish)
(Summary in English) The constitution of the Association of Social Workers of El Salvador was published on the 1 November 1956 by the Ministry of Internal Affairs. It states that the Association does not discriminate against any political or religious creed. It sets the objectives as: To organise and protect the social work profession in the Republic of El Salvador. To develop professional solidarity and mutual collaboration within the profession. To improve the professional services provided by social workers. To promote social work education and cooperate with the schools of social work. To provide information to the public on social work practice. Provide assistance to build social work communities of professionals. Safeguard the profession’s ethics. Obtain from the state authorities the legal regulations to ensure that the social work profession is defended.
The constitution includes information on membership rights and obligations, describing the types of membership such as graduates, students, educators and practitioners. Defining their rights and obligations of membership including the requirement that all members abide by all the rules, and policies of the Association.
The Constitution includes information on becoming a member and defines the process of joining the Association and the required qualifications; and the process of membership sanctions when obligations are not followed. The constitution further includes information on governance arrangements and democratic and elections procedures. Fees collection, assert management and financial accountability. Procedures in the event of closing the association.
