SUMMARY:HISTORIES OF COMPLIANCE AND RESISTANCE: SOCIAL WORKERS AND IMMIGRATION ACROSS EUROPE AND USA
DESCRIPTION:The Social Work History Network has organised an international webinar to be held on 20 April 2026 19:30 to 21:00 UK time. \nThe topical relevance of the theme is obvious in the differing contexts of both UK and USA but we were intrigued to find very limited published material on the history of social work and its relationship with migration\, and specifically immigration to both countries. \nYet there is clear evidence that social work was heavily involved in supporting migrants into both countries in different ways and to some extent was involved in managing the response of governments to the challenges presented by immigration. \nHaving done a lot of digging and literature searching we feel we have engaged an impressive panel of speakers from USA and Europe for what should be a stimulating and challenging webinar\, opening up a little researched aspect of the history of social work. \nhttps://www.kcl.ac.uk/events/histories-of-compliance-and-resistance-social-workers-and-immigration-across-europe-and-usa
