SUMMARY:Asia-Pacific region pre-conference workshop
DESCRIPTION:The Asia-Pacific region invites all social workers to a pre-conference workshop. This is to share\, reflect and contribute to the experiences as well as education on DISASTER PREPAREDNESS\, MITIGATION & REHABILITATION – SOCIAL WORK PERSPECTIVE. \nThe region countries have witnessed many disasters in the last decade. Earthquakes\, typhoons\, floods and fires have been ‘natural’ disasters that have regularly impacted many countries. We also have experienced ‘manmade’ disasters including social and political conflicts that have caused distress in the affected communities. This workshop aims to bring social work experiences and practical interventions from those who have worked during such disasters and provide opportunities to share strategies that can be documented for future guidance. \nPre-Conference poster \nDate: 4th November 2023 \nTime: 1.15 to 5.15pm Cebu time (UTC+8) \nVenue: Waterfront Cebu City Hotel & Casino \nRegistration is open here \nContact: Sriganesh M V (Vice President\, IFSW-AP) \nAmran Jamil (Honorary Secretary\, IFSW-AP)

SUMMARY:Workshop on Social Work Field Education in a Global Era
DESCRIPTION:Japanese federation of Social workers joint Workshop on Australian and Japanese Social Work Field Education in a Global Era \nRegardless of local\, national\, regional\, and global levels\, the social work profession is facing rapid changes and ever increasing cross-border interdependence in the era of globalization. Recent trends include migration and diversity on an unprecedented scale\, worldwide environmental problems such as climate change and related disasters\, as well as other global threats such as the COVID-19 Pandemic\, conflicts and wars\, including resulting adverse economic effects.\nThese all impact on people’s lives and social work practice with them. Social work education must prepare future practitioners to be able to function professionally in such a highly globalized social context. With a focus on field education\, this workshop is a joint project between the Japan College of Social Work and the University of New South Wales\, to mutually learn from educational practice in each country from multiple perspectives. To achieve this\, we rely on reports by various stakeholders involved in field education such as students\, faculty members\, and field instructors.\nBased on their reports\, we hope to search for similarities and differences\, and find common ground for future collaboration in international social work education. \nVenue: Hybrid \nJCSW(Kiyose)\nUNSW(Kensington) \nDate: March 2\,2024(Sat)\nTime: 11:00AM-3:00PM(SYD)\n09:00AM-1:00PM(TYO) \nRegister here \nDetails and program EN
