The International Federation of Social Workers (IFSW) will participate in the Global Summit for the Protection of Children Affected by Armed Conflicts, taking place on 2 October 2026 at the Maison de la Paix in Geneva.
Dedicated to access to justice and effective remedies, the Summit will bring together States, permanent missions, international organisations, civil society, experts, and children and young people affected by armed conflict.
A key focus will be the protection and restoration of the legal identity of children affected by conflict, including birth registration, nationality and family relations. Child Identity Protection (CHIP) is coordinating a dedicated session bringing together speakers from UNICEF, UNHCR, IFSW and the Global Survivors Fund. IFSW Interim Secretary-General Pascal Rudin will speak during this session, contributing the social work perspective to discussions on protecting children’s identity, rights and access to effective remedies in situations of armed conflict.
The Summit provides an important opportunity to strengthen cooperation across professions and institutions and to ensure that the experiences, rights and needs of children affected by conflict remain at the centre of international action.
