IFSW Africa Region is pleased to announce the election of Abib Ndiaye from Senegal as the new Vice President. Abib’s election marks a significant addition to the board as a francophone representative, enhancing the diversity and inclusivity within the leadership team.
As a social work professional and psychologist for nearly 20 years, Abib has extensive experience in various professional spheres and has worked with diverse peoples. He holds a master’s degree in “Interrelationships between Population, Development, and Reproductive Health,” and since 2018, has led the “Knowledge Management and Capitalisation” office at the Ministry of Health and Social Action, in addition to providing mental health and psychosocial support services.
Oluwatoni Adeleke, IFSW Africa Regional President, welcomed Abib with an enthusiastic statement: “We are delighted to have Abib Ndiaye join our leadership team. His experience and perspective as a francophone representative will undoubtedly enrich our efforts and strengthen our mission across the continent. We look forward to working closely with him to advance social work in Africa.”
Accepting the election, Abib Ndiaye expressed his gratitude and commitment: “I am honoured to have been elected as the Vice President of IFSW Africa. I thank all members for their trust and support. Together, we will work towards achieving our shared goals and advancing the social work profession across our region.”
Under the authority of the Regional President, Abib aims to represent IFSW Africa to ensure the influence of social work in member countries. He endeavours to promote IFSW values, missions, and objectives through inclusive communication and advocacy at all levels, while ensuring respect for ethics, diversity, and teamwork. Additionally, he plans to develop inclusive activities like communication, advocacy, recruiting new social worker associations, capacity building, sharing experiences, and exchanging best practices to expand IFSW membership across the continent.
