Harambee!: Social Workers Unite for Sustainable Shared Futures at 2026 Global Conference
As the Global President of the International Federation of Social Workers (IFSW), I am deeply honored to express my profound appreciation for the adoption of the theme for the 2026 Global Conference: “Harambee, for Sustainable Shared Futures.” This theme encapsulates the essence of unity, collective effort, and shared responsibility—core values that are integral to the social work profession.
“Harambee,” a Swahili term meaning “all pull together,” perfectly embodies the spirit of collaboration and mutual support that is vital for addressing the complex challenges we face globally. It is a call to action for all social workers, policymakers, and communities to unite in fostering sustainable and equitable futures for all.
In aligning with this theme, we are reminded that sustainable development cannot be achieved in isolation. It requires the concerted efforts of diverse stakeholders working together towards common goals. This conference will provide a unique platform for sharing knowledge, exchanging best practices, and building networks that will drive forward our collective mission of social justice and human rights.
I extend my heartfelt thanks to the local organizing committee in Kenya, the Global Agenda Taskforce and all those who contributed to the selection of this meaningful theme. Together, let us embrace the spirit of “Harambee” and work tirelessly towards creating sustainable, inclusive, and resilient communities worldwide.
KARIBU KENYA! KARIBU AFRICA!
