On 15 November 2024, a fruitful meeting between the International Federation of Social Workers Asia-Pacific Region (IFSW-AP) and the Korea Association of Social Workers (KASW) took place at the Japan Association of Medical Social Workers’ office in Tokyo, Japan.
Representing IFSW-AP were Dr. Machiko Ohara, the current President of IFSW-AP; Dr. Viktor Virág, Treasurer of IFSW-AP; and Dr. Mariko Kimura, former President of IFSW-AP. From Korea, a delegation from KASW participated, including Mr. Il Kyu Park; the President of KASW, Secretary-General of KASW, and Chair of the International Relations Committee of KASW.
The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss the potential roles Korean social workers could play within the Asia-Pacific region and explore collaborative initiatives to further strengthen international cooperation in the region.
This gathering marked an important step towards enhancing partnerships and fostering collective efforts to advance social work in the Asia-Pacific region.
