Palais des Nations, Geneva | Hybrid and Livestreamed
The International Federation of Social Workers is proud to co-sponsor a significant side event at the Palais des Nations in Geneva titled People’s Tribunal for Women of Afghanistan: Judgment, Accountability, and Normalisation.
This event will present the findings and legal significance of the People’s Tribunal for Women of Afghanistan, which concluded that the Taliban de facto authorities bear responsibility for crimes against humanity, specifically gender persecution. The discussion will examine the implications of the Tribunal’s judgment for international engagement and highlight the urgent need to operationalise the independent investigative mechanism for Afghanistan.
The event is organised by Afghanistan Development and Documentation Organization, Human Rights Defenders Plus, Civil Society and Human Rights Network and World Organisation Against Torture.
Co-sponsors include People’s Tribunal for Women of Afghanistan, DROPS, Asian Forum for Human Rights and Development, International Federation of Social Workers, Rawadari, Rahyab Organization and Afghanistan Human Rights and Democracy Organization.
