IFSW sends it condolences to the family of Natasha Ott. Natasha, a social worker in the United States died while waiting to have a Corona Virus test. Her compassion, bravery and wisdom will live on in the social work profession. NASW President Kathy Wehrmann said: “We grieve Ms. Ott’s passing and send our sympathy to her loved ones. Their loss underscores the risk that social workers and many other helping professionals face on a daily basis. We will mourn our colleague.”
From the international level, Silvana Martinez and Rory Truell said, “We send our heartfelt condolences to Natasha’s family and colleagues. It is a terrible and sad loss for them and for the social work profession. Social Workers are not spared from the effects of this virus, and as frontline workers, many in our profession are exposed to increased risk. Natasha’s passing is a call for all of us in the social work profession to increase our demands for better protection and better safety protocols.”
