The North American region of the International Federation of Social Workers (IFSW) is honoured to announce the appointment of its new Regional Representatives to the New York UN Volunteer Commission. These distinguished team will serve a four-year term.
We extend our deepest gratitude to the outgoing members for their diligent service and unwavering commitment. Their contributions to advancing the social work profession and representing social workers and the IFSW at the UN’s New York office have been invaluable. Their work has laid a strong foundation for future representation.
In the interest of transparency and accountability, the IFSW is pleased to outline the rigorous appointment process. The search began with a call for applications on May 15, 2025, which was disseminated through North American social work associations and IFSW networks. The call clearly defined the role and function of the UN commission representatives and the required application criteria. The deadline for all submissions was June 30, 2025.
Candidates were required to submit a statement of interest, a letter of endorsement from a national or regional association, a curriculum vitae (CV), and confirm their availability to participate in in-person meetings. A significant number of applications were received, leading to a thorough review by a panel of IFSW representatives. A select group of highly qualified applicants was then invited for a panel interview.
