The International Federation of Social Workers (IFSW) is pleased to announce that its statement for the 70th Commission on the Status of Women has been formally accepted and published by the UN.
The statement highlights the People’s Charter as a foundational vision for the pursuit of justice for women and girls one that must recognize the inherent link between human rights and the health of the planet. Addressing the current challenges and solutions regarding access to justice for all women and girls requires a comprehensive, holistic approach. This approach must be grounded in both local and global knowledge and a commitment to a fairer, safer, and more sustainable world.
Furthermore, ensuring and strengthening access to justice for women and girls requires peace, justice, and a healthy environment where institutions are strong and accessible the core vision of a new eco-social world.
Finally, the document emphasizes the essential role of social work by providing concrete examples of how social workers collaborate with communities to promote:
Women’s and girls’ sexual and reproductive health and rights.
The right to land and land governance.
