International Journal of Social Work Ethics and Values Volume 20, Issue 1 now available!

Information Type: NewsTopic: IFSW, IJSWVE

March 31, 2023

IFSW is pleased to announce that the Volume 20, Issue 1 (2023) of the International Journal of Social Work Values and Ethics has just been published.

Pascal Rudin, who is a member of the Journal’s Policy Advisory Board, and who oversees the Journal’s operations, said: “The authors of this issue elaborate on various ethical topics, including the ethical implications of internet searching of client information by social workers, the implications of professional pledge for professional identity, pregnancy options counseling, the promotion of trans-affirming practices, the Islamic basis of social work in the modern world and social work faculty progressivism in a conservative world.”

Alongside these academic articles, Rory Truell, IFSW Secretary-General, reports on the IFSW visit to Afghanistan. Pascal Rudin further commented: “His account highlights the bias created by international media when reporting on the situation in this conflict- and poverty stricken country. The article draws our attention to the “right to sustainable development” of each and every one of the more than 80 million people living there, and how our colleagues in the Afghanistan Organisation of Social Workers support families and communities out of poverty through women’s economic empowerment. IFSW advocates that the international community should support the transition of Afghanistan into a society based on respect of all people through engagement, investment and collaboration, rather than the current sanctions that drive the majority of Afghan people into increasing poverty.”

IFSW thanks Stephen M. Marson and Donna DeAngelis, Editors, for making this issue a reality.

We wish you an interesting read. See all articles as full HTML text or download the full issue as a PDF.
