INTERNATIONAL SEMINAR ON SOCIAL WELFARE IN ASIA AND THE PACIFIC RIM
Current State and Issues of Professional Social Work Education in the Asia Pacific Region
Development of Registration Systems for Qualification Holders
The Japan College of Social Work is pleased to announce the upcoming International Seminar on Social Welfare in Asia and the Pacific Rim, with the theme focusing on the “Development of Registration Systems for Qualification Holders.”
Social workers are essential in addressing various issues affecting individuals and communities. While governments have historically addressed social problems through policies and institutional measures, today’s challenges highlight the importance of professional competence and tailored responses in the field.
In the Asia-Pacific region, collaboration and mutual learning are critical for advancing social work education and practice. This seminar will explore the unique social contexts of the region, provide insights into the actual conditions and challenges of social work education, and discuss the most recent developments in registration systems for qualified professionals.
This event is part of a joint research project conducted by the Social Work Research Institute of the Japan College of Social Work, titled International Comparative Study on the Current State and Issues of Professional Social Work Education in Asia: Development of Registration Systems for Qualification Holders. The project is led by Dr. Machiko Ohara, President of IFSW Asia-Pacific and a professor at the Japan College of Social Work.
Participants will gain an understanding of the shared and diverse characteristics of the Asia-Pacific region and explore opportunities for collaborative growth and innovation in social work education.
