Purpose: As the Putin regime invaded Ukraine, millions of people have been forcibly displaced at home and abroad. Social work has a major role to play in helping people rebuild their lives by accommodating the anxieties and fears of those who have lost their homes and families and who are forced to live in constant fighting.
More than 1,800 displaced Ukrainian people are staying in Japan (as of September 10, 2022)
In this symposium, researchers from Japan and overseas will discuss the challenges surrounding the expanding support and glocal collaboration across borders for displaced people, and consider the ideal form of social work for peacebuilding.
