Iranian Social Workers Celebrate World Social Work Month
Iranian social workers actively participated in World Social Work Day (WSWD) and the month-long celebration in March 2024.
The Iran Association of Social Workers (IASW) played a central role in organizing various events and activities. These aimed to:
- Promote the WSWD 2024 theme
- Recognize social workers’ contributions to Iran’s welfare system
- Highlight the value of social work to the broader community
Activities included:
- Translating and widely distributing the International Federation of Social Workers (IFSW) WSWD materials
- Organizing seminars and discussions on the theme “social work and mediation”
- Hosting the 38th National Conference of Social Work, featuring prominent national and international speakers
- The conference included virtual presentations from IFSW President Joachim Mumba, Asia-Pacific President Machikko O’harra, and Acting CEO Pascal Rudin.
The event also featured local dignitaries like ministry deputies and representatives from NGOs and educational institutions.
The IASW acknowledges and appreciates everyone who participated in these celebrations, raising awareness about the crucial role of social workers in Iran.
