Today Mr Lucio Kangela, the President of the National Association of Social Workers – Democratic Republic of Congo and other NASW-DRC members travelled to the Republic of Congo to meet with IFSW Secretary-General Rory Truell. Dr Truell commented, ‘NSAW-DRC face immense challenges. They are a newly formed profession association working in a context where social work is not well understood, resources are very minimal and there are significant social problems. They are courageously building a social work presence in the DRC that will impact on the welfare of the nation’.
Following the meeting with Dr Truell, Mr Kangela and colleagues returned to the DRC to meet with their Minister of Social Affairs for joint planning and objectives.
