
The International Association of Schools of Social Work (IASSW), the International Council on Social Welfare (ICSW), and the International Federation of Social Workers (IFSW) are delighted to announce the official call for submission of abstracts for the 2026 Joint World Conference on Social Work and Social Development (SWSD 2026), to be held in Nairobi, Kenya, from 26 to 29 June 2026.
Hosted by the Kenya National Association of Social Workers (KNASW) at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC), the conference is themed “Harambee for Sustainable Shared Futures”, drawing on the powerful East African philosophy of collective action and mutual support.
The Call for Submissions is now open, inviting social workers, social work educators, researchers, policymakers, community leaders and advocates to share their work, ideas and innovations. Proposals are welcome across a wide range of formats, including papers, workshops, posters, and research presentations.
Submissions should align with one or more of the conference’s rich and diverse sub-themes, which include:
- Reclaiming and Reimagining Social Work Practice
- Social Work Education, Pedagogy and Research
- Social Work and Social Welfare Across the Lifespan
- Social Work and Sustainable Development
- Clinical Social Work, Health and Wellbeing
- Social Work Practice in the Face of Complex Global Challenges
- Social Movements, Political Social Work and Building Democratic Societies
- Digital Social Work
