The World Social Work Social Development Conference (SWSD2024) will be held in Panama from 4th to 7th April next year. The theme ‘Respecting Diversity Through Joint Social Action’ highlights the bottom-up change that is needed to co-build a new eco-social world.
This conference will bring people together from across the world and strengthen our professions as key actors for sustainable change.
Conference host from the Panama Association of Social Workers, Kenia Batista said: ‘We welcome people to Panama. Our beautiful country which comprises many cultures and sits in the middle of two continents is the perfect place for us all to explore this theme and make plans for a better world. We know you will enjoy the people, the hospitality and the scenery of Panama’.
Programme Leader, Silvana Martinez, commented, ‘This is going to be an exciting programme for social workers, social work educators, researchers and for all interested people. There are 17 subthemes and different ways for everyone to contribute, share and learn. The closing date for submitting an abstract is the end of April 2023 so please get your abstract to us quickly’.
IFSW President, Joachim Mumba, said, ‘This is the first hybrid world conference since 2018 and it is wonderful that this event is taking place in Central America. Given the long absence of face-to-face global conferences we expect many people to participate and for those not able be there in person to join in online’.
The SWSD2024 is a joint world conference hosted by the Panama Association of Social Workers and supported by the International Council on Social Welfare, The International Association of Schools of Social Work and The International Federation of Social Workers.
