Social workers from 35 welfare directorates across the country went on a one-hour strike on November 27.
The Bulgarian Association of Social Workers expresses full support for the demands of colleagues from all over the country and joins their protest actions.
The event organize by Trade union “PODKREPA”.
The Bulgarian Association of Social Workers sent a letter to the Minister of the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy and to the Executive Director of the Social Assistance Agency with the following points:
– we believe that you will personally and in a short time commit yourself to solving the labor and professional problems that social workers in Bulgaria have endured for years;
– We are convinced that you share the understanding that the care of persons and families in need of assistance goes hand in hand with that of assisting professionals;
– we invite you to effectively fulfill your obligations as an employer while ensuring decent work and pay and professional development of employees;
– We are ready to actively participate in forthcoming discussions and actions that will improve the status of the social worker in Bulgaria.
The Bulgarian Association of Social Workers is engaged and committed to promote social work profession in providing social services.
