Supporting Earthquake Victims in Northern Cebu, Philippines
Following the devastating 6.9 magnitude earthquake that struck the northern part of Cebu on 30 September 2025, many families in Bogo City and nearby areas have been deeply affected. The earthquake, which occurred late at night, has left 79 people dead and displaced more than 195,000 families.
In response, the Philippine Association of Social Workers, Inc. (PASWI) — the national organisation of registered social workers — has mobilised its members to provide psychosocial and community support to the affected families. PASWI is organising a three-day “Wellness and Wellbeing” programme from 3–5 December 2025, designed to help victims recover from trauma, anxiety, and grief, and to strengthen their resilience and mental health.
PASWI has also launched a fundraising campaign to support these efforts and meet the immediate needs of the victims.
