Celebrations for World Social Work Day were postponed in Palestine after four civilians were killed by the Israeli military the day before the event was to take place. The celebration and promotion of social work was planned to be held with the Ministry of Education and other partners at Bethlehem University. The Palestinian Union for Social Workers and Psychologists said:
It is another terrible and sad day in Palestine and because of the violence bought to our communities we will delay the event and try to hold it again next month. Social work in Palestine stands for all peoples rights and freedoms and it is important we celebrate our work and our voice for world social work day.
