The Japan College of Social Work (JCSW) and the University of New South Wales (UNSW) are proud to announce the upcoming International Seminar on Social Welfare in Asia and the Pacific Rim 2024, set to take place on March 2, 2024. This pivotal event, scheduled from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM (SYD) / 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM (TYO), will be co-hosted by JCSW and UNSW, featuring a comprehensive program dedicated to exploring the dynamic field of social work education within the global context.
The seminar aims to address the rapid changes and increasing cross-border interdependence that the social work profession faces in today’s era of globalization. Key issues such as migration, environmental challenges, the COVID-19 Pandemic, conflicts, and their socio-economic impacts will be highlighted to underline the need for a well-prepared workforce capable of navigating these complexities. The list of esteemed speakers included our IFSW Asia-Pacific Regional President, Machiko Ohara.
This joint workshop endeavors to foster mutual learning and collaboration between Australian and Japanese social work educational practices. By examining reports from various stakeholders, including students, faculty members, and field instructors, the seminar seeks to identify both similarities and differences, paving the way for future international collaboration in social work education. The seminar will offer simultaneous interpretation in Japanese and English, ensuring an inclusive and engaging experience for all participants.
