Message from IFSW Africa President, Mr. Noel Muridzo on African Freedom Day

Information Type: NewsTopic: IFSW, Social Work

May 25, 2020

“As we celebrate African Freedom Day , unity, dignity and solidarity must be at the center of it all. Gender consciousness and economic empowerment must also be at the helm of our Freedom here and now in all of Africa. Together we can go far and remember :
“If you want to go quickly, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.” African Proverbs
Join us in the celebration of Freedom and let’s continue speaking up where it is not found.”
Dr Noel Muridzo IFSW Africa Region President.

“Independence is only the prelude to a new and more involved struggle for the right to conduct our own economic and social affairs”. – From a speech given at the founding of the OAU, Addis Ababa, 24 May 1963Kwame Nkrumah

For to be free is not merely to cast off one’s chains, but to live in a way that respects and enhances the freedom of others.” —Nelson Mandela

“Freedom is equal opportunities , the right to be treated without discrimination, especially on the grounds of one’s sex, tribe , race, or age. “
Anstance Fometu Social Worker.

The truth is that we are not yet free; we have merely achieved the freedom to be free, the right not to be oppressed. We have not taken the final step of our journey, but the first step on a longer and even more difficult road. For to be free is not merely to cast off one’s chains, but to live in a way that respects and enhances the freedom of others. The true test of our devotion to freedom is just beginning.” Nelson Mandela

“Leadership is a critical determinant of freedom. With freedom leaders and those being lead can soar like eagles or be left permanently wounded.”
Joachim Mumba IFSW Africa Region Vice President

The reason why lions hunt successfully as a pride, is reason enough for Africans to unite.
Thabiso Daniel Monkoe, The Azanian

Freedom is in African unity, Ubuntu
Freedom is in our Humanity
Freedom is you and me in solidarity.
Happy African Freedom Day 2020
IFSW Africa Region.
