School Social Work in Sub-Saharan Africa: Issues, Challenges & Prospects brings together compelling arguments and evidence demonstrating why the well-being of children must be a top priority for African societies. Drawing on both global child-rights conventions and traditional African philosophies like Ubuntu, the editors and contributors highlight the many challenges young people encounter today—including violence, bullying, teenage pregnancies, drug and alcohol abuse, and HIV/AIDS. These hardships are intensified by modernization, urbanization, and widespread corruption, all of which undermine communal values that once protected the most vulnerable.
