I am pleased, as President of IFSW, to see the support of our members to formalize the Education Commission. This Commission will undoubtedly help to bridge the gap between education and practice. It will also allow for joint work with the International Association of Schools of Social Work. On the other hand, we, from our knowledge and our practices, can contribute to the education and permanent training of social workers. I congratulate all those involved in this initiative!

July 11, 2020 at 3:37 pm in reply to: 12. REPORT ON THE GLOBAL AGENDA #38790
    Silvana Martinez
    IFSW Global

Dear David, as President of IFSW I would like to express my recognition, admiration and gratitude for all these years of work as Coordinator of the Global Agenda. Without your professionalism, charisma and commitment, it would have been impossible to give the impulse that the Global Agenda has had in these 10 years. Your report gives an account of the importance and validity of the themes chosen for the Global Agenda 2010-2020. I feel very honored to have worked with you. You are one of my references in the International Social Work and I want to confess that I will miss you, although I know that we will keep in touch and learn from you because you still have a lot to contribute in social work. Excellent evaluation report of these 10 years of the Global Agenda. Now we have a new challenge and that is to think about the future of social work for the next 10 years. Thank you for coordinating the transition to the next Global Agenda. Congratulations and thanks for that!

July 11, 2020 at 3:20 pm in reply to: 13.1 Social Work and the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals #38763
    Silvana Martinez
    IFSW Global

Dear Priska, I would like to congratulate you on developing such an important policy for our Federation. The document expresses a deep work of reflection from the social work and shows the strong link between our profession and the ODS. As mentioned in the policy, Social Work has a lot to contribute to the fulfilment of the ODS and in turn the ODS constitute a meaningful horizon for our professional practices. It is important that we are all involved in this process, to achieve true social transformation and to build a more just, more humane and more democratic world. The level of social inequalities and poverty is appalling and this document reflects the importance of governments engaging with communities and social workers to reverse these inequalities. I agree with you that it is important to provide general guidelines and that each national context can adapt it to its local reality. I really congratulate you and give you all my support for the implementation of this policy.
    Great job!

    Excellent work, Fiona and Nigel!
To really recover the archives is to recover and treasure the history of the IFSW and show the valuable contributions of so many social workers who have travelled and worked in our Federation. Today we are what we are because of our history. We continue to learn every day and the archives are a fundamental pillar for our collective memory, our history and our present! It was really wonderful to hear the report from the African region. Africa has been in my heart forever!
