On Wednesday this week, the IFSW Secretary-General Rory Truell met with the 2026 Local Organising Committee and members of the Kenyan National Association of Social Workers who are preparing the next Joint Social Work and Social Development World Conference in 2026 in Kenya.
This meeting follows the decision of The International Association of Schools of Social Work, The International Council on Social Welfare and IFSW last year to partner with the Kenyan National Association of Social Workers to host the event.
The International Conference Coordinator and senior member of the Kenyan Association of Social Workers, Charles Mbuga, said, “We look forward to welcoming the social work and social development professions to Kenya in 2026. It has been more than 50 years since Kenya hosted an international conference and we are very excited. We know it will be an enriching experience for all who participate”.
IFSW Secretary-General, Rory Truell commented, “The local conference organising team are doing an incredible job in preparing for this event. This will be a unique situation as the profession continues to grow in its development in creating inclusive and meaningful conferences beyond the sharing of knowledge. For example, the hosts are exploring ways to develop partnerships with local communities so that they benefit from the conference as well as enriching the experience of international visitors.”
