The Paraguayan Association of Social Workers have been admitted into Full Membership of IFSW after a postal ballot by IFSW members. The PASW was founded in 1945, and currently has 400 professionals of social work members.
IFSW President, Silvana Martinez said, ‘We are delighted that Paraguay has joined IFSW. Each new member country brings skills and experiences that add to the richness of global discussions, the formulation of policy and united action. The social work profession gets stronger and has more impact each year. Congratulations Paraguay, there are many people across the world looking forward to working with you’. Regional President for Latin America and the Carribean, Larry Alicea added, ‘For the Latin American and Caribbean region, the incorporation of Paraguay represents an important advance in the consolidation of our regional project. We are very happy to work with them in the region.’
