Social Work Social Development (SWSD2024) Conference Celebrates!
The Joint Social Work & Social Development (SWSD2024) Panama conference concluded on a high note, today 7th April 2024 after a colourful week, marking a significant step towards a more just and inclusive diverse world.
Fueled by the exchange of ideas and a shared vision of promoting social justice for all under the theme: Respecting diversity through joint social action, the conference brought together over 1,500 social work professionals from 81 countries across five continents. Kenia Batista, President of the Panamanian Association of Social Workers, in her closing remarks, expressed her deep emotions as she reaffirmed the core values that united the global social work community: respect for diversity, collaborative action, and the pursuit of a “good life” for all.
The week-long event, held at the Anayansi Theater in ATLAPA, Panama City, saw a vibrant exchange of knowledge and experiences. Workshops, poster sessions, keynote addresses, and paper presentations fostered a spirit of inclusivity and mutual learning.
As the curtain closes on this successful SWSD 2024 Panama conference, the baton is passed to Kenya, which will host the next SWSD conference in 2026 (SWSD2026). We look forward to reconvening in Kenya from June 26th to 29th, 2026, and continuing the vital work of building a better future together.
