Organized in collaboration by IFSW Europe, in partnership with the Association of Social Workers of Turkey and the Center for Training and Evaluation in Social Work (CFCECAS), the training program entitled “Empowering Social Worker Preparedness for Disaster Emergency and Long-Term Response” was successfully accomplished.
More than 300 social workers from all over Turkey have enrolled in this program.
Conducted by Ana Rădulescu, President of the International Federation of Social Workers in Europe (IFSW Europe) and Herbert Paulischin, President of CFCECAS, the training aimed to equip social workers with the skills and knowledge needed to respond effectively to disasters. The recent recognition of the Association of Social Workers of Turkey as a partner of the Emergency Response Agency underscores the mandate to provide social assistance support to people affected by disasters. An important support for the organisation of the training has been provided by the President of the Association of Social Workers of Turkey, Ramazan YUKSEL and the team, Suzan Oktay Erol and İrem Coşansu.
The training aimed to increase social workers’ competence and understanding of essential procedures for effective social work during emergency responses. Highlighting the critical role of social workers in fostering community resilience and recovery, the program aimed to empower participants to make a real impact on the lives of those affected by disasters.
Given Turkey’s ongoing challenges following the earthquakes, it is imperative to invest in the professional development of social workers. This investment ensures that communities receive the support and care they need to rebuild and thrive in the midst of adversity.
