In recognition of the International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), IFSW is delighted to extend an invitation to social workers and advocates across the globe to a webinar titled “Her Voice. Her Future. Investing in FGM Survivor-Led Movements.” The webinar will be hosted by IFSW Africa Vice President Oluwatoni Adeleke, in collaboration with IFSW Asia-Pacific President Machiko Ohara.
The webinar aims to illuminate the critical role of survivor-led movements in the fight against FGM and how social workers can actively contribute to empowering women and girls affected by this practice. This year’s theme, “Her Voice. Her Future.” emphasises the importance of amplifying the voices of survivors, recognising their leadership, and fostering investments in initiatives that advocate for their rights and well-being.
We are privileged to host an esteemed panel of speakers, including Nur Farhana Harun from Singapore, Melvina Memunatu Williams from Sierra Leone, Hafsa Omer from Somaliland, and Nursuheilah Abu Samat from Singapore. We invite social workers, practitioners, policymakers, and all interested parties to join us in this important conversation. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of millions of women and girls by supporting their voices and investing in a future free from FGM.
Let’s stand together on this International Day of Zero Tolerance for FGM and reaffirm our commitment to ending this harmful practice. Join us in amplifying survivor voices and in working towards a future without FGM.
