News: IFSW Asia-Pacific Webinar Successfully Concluded
On 20 September 2025, IFSW Asia-Pacific successfully held its regional webinar on the theme “Strengthening Intergenerational Solidarity for Enduring Well-Being.” The event drew more than 100 participants from across the Asia-Pacific region and beyond, reflecting the strong interest in this year’s theme of intergenerational solidarity.
The program opened with welcoming remarks from Dr. Machiko Ohara, President of IFSW Asia-Pacific, who highlighted the importance of intergenerational solidarity in caregiving for all ages and encouraged participants to bring the knowledge gained back to their own communities.
Following this, four distinguished speakers — Prof. Mai Yamaguchi (Japan), Ms. Asimah Beevi and Ms. Nur Farhana Harun (Singapore), and Ms. Yada Ponchamni (Thailand) — together with moderator Dr. Teoh Ai Hua, shared insights and experiences on intergenerational caregiving, strategies to strengthen connections across generations, and best practices from their respective contexts.
Participants actively engaged in the discussions, and the exchange of ideas was so rich and dynamic that the session extended beyond the scheduled time. Feedback from attendees highlighted the relevance of the theme to current social work challenges and the value of cross-regional learning.
IFSW Asia-Pacific extends its heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Ohara, our speakers, moderator, and all participants who contributed to the success of this webinar. We hope that the knowledge and perspectives shared will continue to inspire efforts to foster intergenerational solidarity in communities across the region.
