The International Federation of Social Workers (IFSW) Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) Region gathered in the vibrant city of Pilar, Paraguay🇵🇾, for an unforgettable week of solidarity, dialogue, and vision. The 2025 Regional Delegates Meeting (16–17 September) and the International Congress of Social Work (18–20 September) drew together social work leaders, academics, students, and community organisations from across the region and beyond. 🗓 October 21–24, 2025 Over 2,000 social workers from around the world gathered in the historic city of Vigan — a UNESCO World Heritage Site — for the PASWI International Conference and National Convention, under the theme:
“Strengthening Intergenerational Solidarity to Ensure Family Wellbeing Across Diverse Cultures.” The event featured:
✅ International presentations from Germany, India, Japan, Korea, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam
✅ A virtual message from Machiko Kimura, IFSW Asia-Pacific President, highlighting unity, shared learning, and regional collaboration
✅ The signing of several Memorandums of Understanding to promote international exchange in research, education, and practice PASWI President Ma. Victoria P. Sta. Ana shared: “Our work reaffirmed that family wellbeing lies at the heart of national development. Their unwavering commitment reflects the core values of the social work profession—upholding human dignity, providing care in times of crisis, and fostering resilience in the face of adversity. This tragedy underscores the urgent need for international cooperation. We call upon the global community—governments, humanitarian organizations, and civil society—to work together in mobilizing immediate assistance and to support Afghanistan’s longer-term recovery and reconstruction.
