INDIA SUPPORTS TO HAVE THREE PROXY!!
The proposed amendment by Newzealand and seconded by UK to allow THREE proxy instead of ONE as proposed in original motion , is justified and has a rationale too. AS IFSW grows and more and more countries join IFSW , it becomes important that we have the rights of those associations who cannot travel to IFSW meetings protected and hence they should have option to be represented by Proxy. Though we are in virtual mode and may be hybrid for some time, we would definitely get back to physical mode sooner ! Hybrid mode will have its own challenges and may be good for for conferences and events to get reach out to large numbers ,it is always advisible to have General Meetings physically as it allows space for sharing perceptions and having consultation from representatives before proposing changes to drafts ,deliberating and accepting.
Hence India strongly supports the amendment by New Zealand proposed to have THREE proxies and seeks support from all.- This reply was modified 4 years, 1 month ago by

Despite pandemic affecting normal life and movement globally and posing severe challenges, IFSW under the stewardship of Silvana along with Rory demonstrated their best leadership in working with various National associations, various commissions, collaborators ,building partners, and working with UN and other international bodies to show case that social workers can make a difference during the challenging times. A quick adoption to virtual mode by integrating technology into our functioning and going virtual mode helped us to connect more often and reach out to more social workers around .
Silvana ,As you hand over the leadership mantle to Elect President, you will be always remembered for your dynamic and positive leadership. of course Rory will continue to be an inspiration !!- This reply was modified 4 years, 1 month ago by

I agree that Advocacy and influencing policies at Macro level is very important role for social workers,to bring social transformation. how do we do it? work with political parties to influence their manifestos or building peoples movements to influence them to adopt new policies and laws??
B Promoting connections between peoples & strengthening solidarity seems to be most appropriate as it is people centric in action which is important to strengthen solidarity than government centric which can only be a slogan!
July 17, 2020 at 4:53 pm in reply to: Global solidarity : Demand the abolition of illegitimate debt- Debt justice #40845you have raised a very important issue that is affecting many developing countries. Debt servicing by itself is eating into GDP . many a times the governments cut on social welfare and support for poor and vulnerable sections. They project and show more and more people above poverty line to justify cuts, where as in reality the line to determine Below Poverty by itself is often not too scientific . the points raised by you needs further debate for suitably articulating in GA themes.

greetings from India!
We are delighted to see India getting opportunity to be a part of Global IFSW team ! on behalf of INPSWA , i thank all the general council members for approving our nomination ( Late) and all General council members from Asia Pacific Region for supporting India’s nomination for the position of Asia Pacific Regional Vice President. it is great leadership team at IFSW and I look forward to work with International Presdent Silvana, Regional President Rose Henderson and Secretary General Rory Truell. Mariko Kimura past Regional President has always been a strong support for India, since we got affiliated to IFSW and we thank her and look forward for continued support
INPSWA President Prof Ghandi Doss and all senior colleagues, supported and motivated me to file nomination and i am thankful to all of them.
i know that the it is not a position of power but that of responsibility and accountability! I look forward to work with Rose Henderson and other colleagues in the region, to discharge the responsibility . Irene leung has left behind good work and i look forward for her guidance.
The job of Election officer in handling online elections is not easy ! David Jones has done it with professionalism and transparency!Holding a virtual General council meeting managing all timezones and giving opportunity for every one to articulate is a challenging task. it is a remarkable work from Rory Truell , Pascal ,and others at IFSW secretariat ! great work and you all deserve big applause !!

INPSWAit is very thoughtful and welcome move that Herbert Paulischin has made the proposal for Education Commission. blending practice and academics for building social work competencies is important in present days. this proposal should be accepted and broad guidelines should be framed . India( INPSWA) will be willing to work with Herbert and others to give a shape to the commission and define its objectives, focus areas and priorities. we have many senior social work educators who also have expertise in practice and can add value to the commission.

this makes it clear David Jones !!
Thanks for giving better clarity David Jones !!
thanks for the clarification David Jones. however would there be sufficient time line ( window ) for all members to vote and will there be some sort of a pop up or reminder to those who may not have responded as timezones are different and chances of missing timelines may be there and if it happens it could deny voting members an opportunity.
Dear Silvana and Rory
greetings from India !!
both of you along with Executive had made such a meticulous planning for the conference at Canada, but the pandemic threw everything out of gears. once it started and visualizing the likely magnitude and spread , you both took stock and an immediate decision to call it off instead of keeping it postponed. Then came much more challenging task of deciding and organising the virtual meeting and virtual conference. yes…adaptability to sitauations are important for social workers but at the same time keeping same spirit ! great leadership by both of you ! now time is no constraint for making observations and comments!! hope we will hear more voices, more suggestions !! looking forward for three days deliberations, recorded speeches and reports.Hi
it is a new experience to be participating in a virtual meeting and connection delegates from 88 countries!! i know that it is challenging for IFSW team to bring this virtual general meeting keeping the various bye laws of IFSW uncompromised !! good begining for the General meeting ! great work by Rory, Pascal ,Lola and the full team at IFSW secretariat ! - This reply was modified 4 years, 1 month ago by
