The Climate Justice Program of IFSW is pleased to announce a new podcast project called JAM Sessions. This will be an open access, international and multilingual podcast. Upcoming series will discuss topics such as climate justice, ecosocial work, ecosocial worldviews, and ways that social workers are moving this work forward as we co-create a new eco-social world.
We envisioned this project as a way to preserve and honor oral history, and as a way to learn from each other and share ideas. We believe this podcast project will help as we try to mainstream ecosocial worldviews and climate justice work within and beyond social work.
We are planning several series, with various guests and co-hosts, all exploring Climate
Justice, Ecosocial Work, Ecosocial Worldviews and ways social workers are moving this work forward in the world. Upcoming series include, but not limited to: “What is Ecosocial Work and How do we do it?”, “The Wisdom of Our Elders”, “Radical Self-Care in Times of Climate Crisis”, “Co-creating a New Eco-social World” and the connections to the Global Agenda (2020-2030), “Meet the Authors” of the three-volume, IFSW Workbook series on Promoting Community and Environmental Sustainability, and much more.
These JAM Sessions aim to urge us towards deeper reflection through the informal exchange of ideas about ways we are trying to mindfully practice actions that promote climate justice in our everyday lives, both personally and professionally. Together, the co-hosts seek to learn from each other and an array of international, invited guests, as we discuss challenges, successes, and lessons learned for the living out of our aims of promoting climate justice in the world.
We hope this podcast will convey not only the gravity and urgency of the climate crisis, but also the many tools we can utilize, and solidarity we have to move forward together in hope as we co-create a new eco-social world. We invite feedback and discussion by students, educators, researchers, policy makers, and practitioners. And, welcome suggestions for topics and guests.
